A customer comes in with a product to return, but has no receipt. As the cashier, what would your next step be, following the requirements stated in the attached notice?

New policy for returns:

As of April 1st, we will not be accepting returns of merchandise purchased more than 90 days prior. To process a return, please follow these directions:

  1. Ask to see the receipt for the purchase. Remember, if no receipt, no return can be made. Managers cannot override this policy.
  2. Check the purchase date to make sure it is not more than 90 days ago.
  3. Enter the product number of the product being returned into the computer.
  4. Enter the purchase date.
  5. Scan the barcode on the product.
  6. Click on the “Return Item” icon on the screen.
  7. Cross the returned item(s) off on the customer’s receipt.
  8. Process the return payment.
  9. Return new receipt and original receipt to the customer.
