Flashcard 13 - Applied Mathematics Flashcard Set for the WorkKeys

Back

8 times larger

Explanation:

You can start with any dimensions you want, but to make things easy, imagine a cube that is \(1\text{ cm} \times1\text{ cm}\times 1\text{ cm}\). It would have a volume of \(1 \text{ cm}^{3}\).

Now double each side, giving a cube \(2\text{ cm}\times2\text{ cm}\times2\text{ cm}\), which would have a volume of \(8\text{ cm}^{3}\).

See? 8 times larger. This works the same for any dimensions you assign to the smaller cube.
