Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. It is played in more countries than any other game. Different forms of the game have been played since ancient times. Modern soccer uses a set of rules developed in England in 1863. To play, two teams of eleven players each try to kick a ball into a goa. The goalkeeper is the only player on each team who can use their hands. A soccer game runs for 90 minutes, with a 15-minute break in the middle. More time may be added if play is stopped for penalties or injuries. Soccer does not need a lot of equipment, just a ball, a goal, and players who are willing to run.
