In literature, the point of view of a story is the perspective (or lens) through which a story is told. There are three basic types of POV: first person (“I,” “me,” “we”), second person (“you,” “your”), and third person (“he,” “she,” “they”). Within third person, there are two subcategories: limited (knowing the thoughts and motivations of only one character) and omniscient (knowing the thoughts and motivations of all characters).
