slope-intercept form: \(y = mx + b\)
point-slope form: \(y - y_{1} = m(x-x_{1})\)
standard form: \(Ax+By = C\)
We use the slope-intercept form \((y=mx+b)\) when we are given the slope and \(y\)-intercept of a line.
We use the point-slope form \((y-y_1=m(x-x_1))\) when we know the slope of a line and a point \((x_1,y_1)\) on the line.
We use the standard form with equations that involve both \(x\) and \(y\) terms. This form is also useful for finding the intercepts of the line.
