What is a difference of squares and how can it be factored? What are the perfect square binomials and their factored forms?

Accepted Answer

A binomial that is of the form $$x^2-y^2$$ factors to $$(x-y)(x+y)$$    
$$(x+y)^2 = x^2 + 2xy + y^2$$    
$$(x-y)^2 = x^2 - 2xy + y^2$$
