Flashcard 14 - Writing Flashcard Set for the ParaPro Assessment

Back

subject; predicate

Explanation:

In addition to needing to express a complete and finished thought, sentences are made up of two main parts: the subject (who or what the sentence is about) and the predicate (what the subject does). Simple subjects and predicates are usually identified as single words or verb phrases (car, bus, paintbrush, cat, ran, is walking, will apply); complete subjects and predicates include the subject or predicate and all of the describing words associated with each. If identifying complete subject or predicate, everything in the sentence should be accounted for as being part of the complete subject or part of the complete predicate.
