Explanation:
Ad hominem fallacies attack the speaker rather than the argument the speaker is making. Often falling into name-calling and blame-placing, ad hominem arguments are not effective at persuading an audience of critical thinkers and are usually used when there really are no good counterarguments and the speaker is making a valid point.
