A linear equation in the slope-intercept form, is written as:

\[y = mx + b\]

where m is the slope.

So we write the given equation in this form:

\[Ax + By + C = 0\] \[By = -Ax – C\] \[y =-\frac{A}{B}x \;– \frac{C}{B}\]

Referring back to the slope-intercept form,

\[m = -\frac{A}{B}\]
