Function notation describes the unique relationship between an input and an output. All functions can be graphed by setting up an input, output table. Use the table to keep track of coordinate points, \((x,f(x))\). Plot the points in the xy-plane to construct a graph. If every x-value has only one \(f(x)\) value (passes the vertical line test), then the expression is a function.
