Flashcard 9 - ELAR: Writing Flashcard Set for the TSIA2
Back
a word or phrase that helps shift the reader from one idea to the next or from one sentence to the next in a piece of writing
Explanation:
Transitions are important in writing because they help move the reader through from beginning, to middle, to end. Without transitions, an essay can never move forward. Common transitions include words or phrases that show agreement (also, again), opposition (on the contrary, instead), cause (since, due to), support (indeed, in fact), and time (after, since).
