Question

This proposed definition of a piecewise function does not actually define a function.  What needs to be changed so that it defines a true function?   
  
$$f(x) =   \left\{
\begin{array}{lll}
      x^2+4 & if  & x\geq -1 \
      3& if & x\leq -1 \
\end{array} 
ight.  $$

Accepted Answer

Change $$\geq$$ to $$>$$ or change $$\leq$$ to $$<$$.
