counterclaim (or counterargument)
The most effective argumentative or persuasive texts include a mention of the counterclaim to acknowledge that not everyone will agree, but then offer rebuttals to that counterclaim to explain why it is an invalid or weak argument and bring the reader back to the author’s side.
