persuasive
Do not confuse persuasive writing with argumentative writing. While they share similarities like presenting a claim with which not everyone will agree, a persuasive text works to convince or persuade the audience to believe and accept the claim in the way the author presents it. An argumentative text presents a controversial claim and provides both sides of the argument, but it is not working to necessarily persuade the audience that one side is more right than the other—just that multiple perspectives exist and should be considered. Argumentative texts may choose a side, but not with the intent to persuade the audience to also necessarily choose that side, but to at least acknowledge that it exists.
