Evidence may be implicit or explicit, and the reader may question its validity, so the author must select his or her evidence carefully if it’s going to be effective for the reader. On the SBAC, most of the questions ask you to identify the best evidence of the correct answer or may ask you to find pieces of evidence from the text that support a particular claim. You may also have to provide your own evidence to support your reasoning about the text and to explain why you gave a particular answer.
