What are the distance and midpoint formulas? What is a good way to remember them?

Accepted Answer

Distance formula:    
$$d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}$$, which is just the Pythagorean formula $$c^2=a^2+b^2$$ Midpoint formula:    
$$ \frac{(x_2+x_1)}{2},\frac{(y_2+y_1)}{2}$$, which is just the average of the x-coordinates and the average of the y-coordinates
