Before starting the vehicle, disengage the clutch (press the clutch pedal to the floor), and put the transmission in neutral.

Because the engine is so large, if you don’t take these two steps, the truck might experience unwanted movement. You could also damage the starter motor.

(The parking brake will, of course, already be set.)
