The first step in stopping a trailer skid is recognizing that the trailer is in a skid.
Explanation:
Keep a close eye on the trailer using the mirrors. Anytime you brake hard, check the mirrors to make sure that the trailers are staying in line. When a trailer swings out of your lane, it is very difficult to prevent a jackknife.
