Flashcard 13 - Air Brakes Flashcard Set for the CDL
Back
The ABS indicator is a yellow light which is mounted to the exterior of the vehicle, on the driver’s side (left side). There is also an indicator lamp in the dash panel.
Explanation:
The exterior light is usually mounted on the rear corner, but sometimes it is mounted on the nose of the trailer or box. It should be visible in the driver’s side mirror (left side).
The exterior and dash panel indicators will both light momentarily on start up. A constantly lit ABS indicator (or an ABS indicator that constantly flashes) indicates a system malfunction that needs to be repaired.
(Older equipment will keep the ABS indicator on, until the vehicle reaches 5 mph.)
