Find a common denominator and compare their numerators.
Explanation:
After finding a common denominator of the two fractions being compared, the one with the larger numerator is the larger fraction.
For example, to determine if \(\frac{2}{3}\) or \(\frac{3}{4}\) is larger, we first determine there is a common denominator of \(12\). We can rewrite \(\frac{2}{3}\) as \({8}{12}\) and \(\frac{3}{4}\) as \(\frac{9}{12}\). Since \(9 > 8\), it must be the case that \(\frac{3}{4} > \frac{2}{3}\).
