to come to a conclusion about a text based on evidence and reasoning
One must be able to make inferences because authors don’t always directly state their purpose of message to the reader. Using context clues and suggested hints provided by the author, readers infer things about a text by analyzing the content of the text, as well as by reading “between the lines” to make determinations about things the author may not have explicitly stated.
