Explanation:
The genre of a text refers to the type of writing it is. Genres can be very broad: fiction or non-fiction; or they can be specific: teen mystery, lyrical poetry, twentieth-century drama, etc. Think of genre as though you were walking into a bookstore and looking for a particular type of book: you would search by its genre.
