plot

Stories usually begin with an introduction or exposition to set the scene and introduce the characters. The rising action shows how the characters interact with each other and the world around them. At the climax, the main character must make a decision or take action as a result of a conflict. Then, the falling action and a resolution are reached. These are the steps of a plot.
