Having good energy will help a dancer or any performer/artist succeed. Building good rapport with the audience is the best way to have good energy.

There are various methods for building rapport with the audience:

• Be prepared (know the dance).
• Engage the audience; stand close to the edge of the stage if it is appropriate.
• Make eye contact.
• Look into all areas of the audience.
• Own your mistakes and laugh at yourself.
• Have a good time.
• Don’t scowl.
• Smile.
