Flashcard 1 - Subtest III: Visual and Performing Arts Flashcard Set for the CSET Multiple Subjects Test
Back
4/4
Explanation:
Music for beginning students should not be complicated or have difficult time signatures. The meter and rhythm should be easy to work with. The 4/4 time signature is used for beginning dancers because of its simplicity. Conveniently, the 4/4 time signature is the single most commonly used time signature in Western music, which is why it’s called “common time.”
Other considerations for beginning dance music are:
- music with a pattern that is easy to detect
- music with quarter notes, half notes, and the occasional set of eighth notes
