Exam information

What you need to know about the CompTIA Network+

As of December 20, 2024, the CompTIA Network+ N10-009 exam has replaced the CompTIA Network+ N10-008 exam. Be sure you are studying for the correct test version.

The CompTIA Network+ N10-009 exam assesses your knowledge and skills concerning all aspects of network operation. The 90 questions on the exam are taken from these broad areas, each shown with its approximate percentage of exam coverage:

1.0 Network Concepts—23%
2.0 Network Implementation—20%
3.0 Network Operations—19%
4.0 Network Security—14%
5.0 Network Troubleshooting—24%

There are no separate test sections, and you may find questions from any of these areas throughout the exam.

Most N10-009 exam questions will be in a typical multiple-choice format, but there are some performance-based questions (PBQs), as well. A PBQ uses simulations as part of the question prompt. These simulations may feature interactive presentations you will use to answer the question, with partial credit possible for these questions. There will be an option to reset progress if you wish to correct your answer, and you may move on and come back to a PBQ. It will save your progress.
