Explanation:
Nitroprusside sodium (Nitropress®) is a continuous intravenous medication administered to patients with acute hypertension. It can be used in the event of a hypertensive crisis, uncontrolled hypertension, and hypertensive encephalopathy. Close monitoring of this medication is indicated to prevent reducing blood pressure too quickly, which may cause cerebral ischemia.
