Pandemic

Influenza outbreaks can be pandemic or epidemic in nature. Pandemic influenza is classified by widespread infection due to a newly modified influenza virus with little human immunity. Pandemic influenza can also occur when traditionally non-human forms of the virus morph into human forms and develop human-to-human transmission abilities.
