Compartment syndrome

Compartment syndrome occurs when tissues surrounding or near an injury experience severe inflammation, decreasing distal blood flow and causing tissue necrosis and death. Treatment of compartment syndrome includes restoring perfusion to the tissues and decompression of the increased pressures by way of a fasciotomy.
