balloon angioplasty
Explanation:
A balloon angioplasty is often performed in the event of peripheral vascular insufficiency. In this procedure, a balloon-tipped catheter is inserted into the vessel and inflated at the place of occlusion. A stent is commonly, but not always, placed inside the vessel to support the walls and maintain blood flow throughout.
