Non-ST elevation MI (NSTEMI)

Non-ST elevation MI (NSTEMI) events are the result of decreased blood flow to the cardiac muscle due to vessel blockage or spasm. ECG changes with NSTEMI events include a depressed ST wave or T-wave inversion without progression to the Q wave. If total blockage of blood flow to the cardiac muscle occurs, the event is called an ST elevation MI (STEMI). ECG changes of STEMI events include an elevated ST wave with progression to the Q wave.
