Increase: \(x+(x \cdot \frac{y}{100})\)
Decrease: \(x-(x \cdot \frac{y}{100})\)
To compute for a certain percentage (\(y\%\) or \(\frac{y}{100}\)) of a given value (\(x\)), multiply \(x\) by \(\frac{y}{100}\), such as, (\(x \cdot \frac{y}{100}\)). To increase \(x\) by this value, simply add this result to \(x\). To decrease, simply subtract this result from \(x\).
