The ASVAB stands for Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery
The test is one method to determine eligibility for service in the United States Military
The ASVAB is made up of the following sections: Word Knowledge, Arithmetic Reasoning, General Science, Mathematics Knowledge, Mechanical Comprehension, Electronics Information, Paragraph Comprehension, Auto and Shop Information, and Assembling Objects.
Four of these sections (Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, and Word Knowledge) make up your AFQT score, which determines your eligibility for enlistment
Scores from combinations of the sections determine your qualification for different military occupational specialties (MOS)
Each branch has different ASVAB score requirements
The ASVAB is NOT an intelligence test
You have 3 hours to complete the ASVAB
Taking the ASVAB does not mean you must join the military
