Flashcard 6 - Mechanical Comprehension Flashcard Set for the ASVAB
Back
MA is the ratio of the force provided by a machine to the force applied to it.
To calculate MA, compute the ratio of the output force with the input force, or take the ratio of the distance of effort with the distance the load moves.
Explanation:
MA of a 100 N weight lifted with 10 N force is \(\frac{100 N}{10 N} = 10\).
MA of an 80 foot rope and pulley system used to lift a load 10 feet is:
\[\frac{80}{10} = 8\]All Flashcard Sets for the ASVAB are now available as downloadable PDFs
