Flashcard 7 - Mathematics Knowledge Flashcard Set for the ASVAB

Back

\[(x + 4)^{\frac{4}{7}}\]

Explanation:

Radicals, or expressions presented inside the square root symbol (\(\sqrt{}\)), can be written as expressions raised to fractional exponents. \(\sqrt[7]{a}\) is the same as \(a^{\frac{1}{7}}\).

So:

\[\sqrt[7]{(x+4)^{4}} = ((x+4)^{4})^{\frac{1}{7}}\]

Now, multiply the exponents:

\[(x+4)^{4 \times \frac{1}{7}} = (x+4)^{\frac{4}{7}}\]
