Question 25 - Reading and Writing Practice Test for the PSAT/NMSQT Exam

What is the main function of the underlined sentence in the passage provided?

Diego Rivera was a prominent twentieth-century Mexican painter. He painted frescoes and helped establish the mural movement in Mexico. Rivera’s artistic prowess began early when, at age three, he began drawing on the walls of the house. Later, he painted murals in Mexico City, Cuernavaca, San Francisco, Detroit, and New York City, among other places. Perhaps his most well-known work is the twenty-seven-panel series known as the Detroit Industry Murals. These murals depict men working at large industrial machinery, scientific advances, and new technology. The series is intended to express the idea that all actions and ideas are one. Rivera was married to Frida Kahlo, another Mexican artist famous for her self-portraits and folk-art style.
