granulating/granulation tissue
Granulating/granulation tissue is the bright red or pink-looking tissue that forms at the base and edges of a wound. Its presence signals that the body is properly healing and it can be impeded by infection. Likewise, necrotic or exudative tissue should be debrided in order to stimulate granulation, and this tissue should not be used for a wound culture.
