Second-degree atrioventricular heart block (also known as a Wenckebach or Mobitz type I)
Explanation:
Because of the dropped QRS complex in this type of heart block, a ratio designation is usually part of the description. For example, 4 P waves and 3 QRS complexes is designated as a 4:3 Mobitz type I block. Patients with this type of AV block may be asymptomatic, or they may experience dizziness, lightheadedness, or syncope. Treatments can vary based on the patient’s symptoms.
