Hyperthermia is a potentially fatal condition if its underlying cause is not detected and treated or corrected. The increase in body temperature will trigger fluid losses from the body that must be replaced either through oral fluids or IV fluid replacement. Lastly, steps will need to be taken to bring the patient’s body temperature back down to normal as quickly as possible to prevent further complications and morbidity.
