pulseless electrical activity and asystole
Explanation:
Since the cardiac electrical system is already weak and/or nonfunctional when asystole and pulseless electrical activity occur, resetting it with defibrillation is ineffective. Shocking either of these rhythms can even make it harder to return the heart to normal sinus rhythm.
