Lucy and Marcus decided to go to the store for some milk and butter so they could make a cake for their mother’s birthday. When they got to the store, Marcus and Lucy got a shopping basket and filled it with milk, butter, birthday candles, and a package of gum to enjoy on the walk back. When they got to the checkout counter, Marcus discovered they were short 35 cents and could not buy all of the things they had in their basket. They decided to put the gum back.
